When I was selected by Pastor A.J. Smith to represent our Church, First Baptist of Branford I wasn’t sure what was to be expected of myself or the group. Caroline put my anxieties to rest as she really helped guide us along in this process from the first meeting on.
I have been so impressed for the courage of my working group members at First Baptist Church in Branford – their courage to say yes to this program, say yes to the process, and say yes to the listening for where the Spirit is already moving.
What does First Baptist Church of Branford look like in the future? What an inspiring question, with so many potential opportunities to do God’s will.
Let us remember that we are profoundly loved, and so need never stay afraid. And that nothing that has been broken is beyond God’s mending. Amen.
Christian scriptures, and histories of various Christian communities, together show us: we are in very good company when we experience the unknowingness of what’s next.
The First Baptist Church of Branford is located on the Town Green at 975 Main Street. They are an American Baptist (ABCUSA) congregation organized in 1838 with a rich history of worship and community presence. First Baptist Church is a community and mission-oriented congregation passionate about social justice, sharing meals, doing outreach, and studying the Bible together. They are in a season of transition, and most of the congregation is open to revitalization.
