Morenike Oyebode is a third year Masters of Divinity student at Yale Divinity School (YDS) in New Haven. Before attending YDS, Morenike was a 2019 corps member of Teach for America committing to the work of fighting for the educational justice of Black and brown students in the public school systems. During this time, she served as a general education, elementary teacher of wonderful third and fourth grade students in Greenville, SC. Stuck in the question of theodicy, specifically as it concerns the disparities in this system, she felt led to obtaining theological education in attempts to answer some questions that her various denominational backgrounds could not. She seeks to intersect the work of law, religion/theology, and the education system to further demand justice for marginalized communities. Currently, she is navigating her call to church ministry. Her complex denominational upbringing has compelled her to matriculate through both Andover Newton Seminary and Berkeley Divinity School during her time at YDS. Her deepest desire is to follow where the Spirit of God leads.
