 Lizzie Chiarovano, she/her/hers from Lancaster, SC, is in her second year at YDS for a Masters of Arts in Religion, concentrating in Ethics. She currently serves as a Volunteer Coordinator at Dwight Hall, Yale’s Center for Public Service and Social Justice, creating and leading service partnerships between students and the New Haven community. Lizzie is also the acting president of the YDS Women’s Center. Before coming to Yale, Lizzie received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Clemson University, with a minor in Religious Studies and an honors distinction. Through her time at Clemson she was active in the social life of the university, working as a Community Development Assistant, as well as holding membership and leadership positions across Clemson’s Undergraduate Student Senate, Clemson’s Women’s Commission, Clemson’s Accessibility Commission, the university chapter of the NAACP, and more. Lizzie also participated in independent research regarding the relationship between Balkan churches and identity politics, as well as feminist constitutional interpretations, the latter of which she was published for in the Washington University of St. Louis’ undergraduate law review. Outside of university, Lizzie also served on Joe Cunningham’s 2022 gubernatorial campaign as a lead campaign representative for districts 43-45 in South Carolina. She is excited to bring her experience working with communities into the church space!
